Greetings - I would like to set my MacBook Pro to backup IN FULL every week (i.e. no incrementals). On the Win 10 version of Acronis True Image 2020 you do this via the 'Backup Scheme' tab (then Custom Scheme) under Options. I don't see this same thing on the MAC OSX version. How can I set this up on the MAC OSX Version ???
Download Acronis True Image 2019
Thanks in advance, Mark
Mark, I am not a Mac owner or user so am relying on the ATI 2020 User Guide for Mac for this topic.
In the Basic Concepts section of the user guide it has the following information:
Backup versions
A backup version is created during a backup operation. Each version represents a point in time to which the system or data can be restored. The first backup version contains all the data selected for backup. The second and subsequent versions contain only data changes that occurred since the previous backup version. All the backup versions are stored in a single backup file.
Backup file format
When you back up your Mac to a local storage or a network place, Acronis True Image 2020 saves backup data in the proprietary .tib or .tibx format, by using compression. The data from .tib or .tibx file backups can be recovered only through Acronis True Image 2020.
The above says to me that you are only able to create Incremental type backups with the Mac ATI application then use the Backup retension rules to control how many such files are created.
Schedule
For your backups to be really helpful, they must be as up-to-date as possible. Schedule your backups to run on a regular basis.
Backup retention rules
Every time you run a backup operation, manually or on a schedule, Acronis True Image 2020 creates a new backup version in the backup location. To delete obsolete backup versions automatically, you can set the backup retention rules.Refer to Cleaning up backups, backup versions, and replicas for details.
Cleaning up backups, backup versions, and replicas
Every time you run a backup operation, manually or on a schedule, Acronis True Image 2020 creates a new backup version in the backup location. By default, Acronis True Image 2020 stores 20 recent versions. This rule applies to both Acronis Cloud and local or network folders. When you create the twenty-first version, Acronis True Image 2020 automatically deletes the oldest version of the backup. You can change the default value and set a different limit on the number of backup versions.
Hello Mark ,
As Steve correctly pointed out, currently it's only possible to run always incremental backup schemes on Mac. I've logged a feature request for your wish (internal ID for TI-176465 [Mac] Support creation of custom backup schemes)

Hello Ekaterina,
ATI for Mac prior to 2020 used to create incremental backups after the first Full backup and runs all the way up to the end of the 20th version, then starts to remove the oldest to maintain 20 versions all the time. I learned to live with that and occasionally I would start a new full backup manually.
Now, in ATI 2020, it looks like we can have up to 999 versions as a max, which is fine. However there seems to be a major issue (problem) with the program. It starts on its own a new full backup file every 6th incremental backup. There's no way to configure this nor to control it in any way or form. This is extremely frustrating as I have a lot of data on my main drive, and creating a new full backup so frequently takes very long time and exhaust the capacity of my large back drive very quickly with no automated nor manual way of control short of deleting the the whole backup and start a fresh one.
Can you please look into this and let us know if there's a solution.
